Francis Land House |
On Tuesday, April 25th from 2:30 to 4:30, the HCE will play in the
basement of the Francis Land House, 3131 Virginia Beach Blvd. in
Virginia Beach. This concert is part of the Garden Club's Garden
Week Tour. Audience members may tour the house and gardens and
sit downstairs to listen to the concert. Hardwick members John Winsor,
clarinet; and Jeanette Winsor, piano will be joined by guest artists
Rita Addico-Cohen, soprano and James Herbison, cello. The program
will include John Winsor's The Norwegian Lady for soprano, clarinet,
cello and piano and Franz Schubert's Shepherd on the Rocks. This
concert will be performed twice - starting at 2:30 and again at
3:30. The concert is free and open to the public, and is partially
funded by the Virginia Beach Arts and Humanities Commission.

On Sunday, April 2nd, 3:00 pm, Hardwick Chamber Ensemble members
Marlene Ford, horn, Robert Ford, trombone, John Winsor, clarinet
and Jeanette Winsor, piano will play in a concert of music by Richmond
composer Leigh Baxter. They will play his Lewis and Clark Sketches,
Hornburg Sonata for horn and piano and Caprice for clarinet
and piano. This concert will take place on the Chester Campus of John
Tyler Community College.

On Tuesday, March 28th at 12:30 PM, John and Jeanette Winsor will
present a concert of French music for clarinet and piano. Included
will be works by Debussy, Ravel, Delmas and Poulenc. This concert
will occur in the Theater at the Portsmouth Campus and is free and
open to the public.

On Sunday, March 19th, 6:00 pm, Hardwick Chamber Ensemble members
John and Jeanette Winsor will join the Eastern Virginia Brass for
a concert of chamber music. Chamber works by Beethoven, Alexandre
Guilmant, Johann Galliard, Poulenc, Nelhybel and the Virginia composers
Leigh Baxter and John Winsor will be performed. Hardwick member
Marlene Ford, horn, Lawrence Clemens, trumpet and Robert Ford, trombone
will also play. Green Acres Presbyterian Church is located at 3135
Hanley Ave, Portsmouth, VA. This concert is free and open to the public.

John and Jeanette Winsor performed on the February 25th NACUSA/VA
concert at Chowan College in Murfreesboro, NC. John Winsor's The
Norwegian Lady was performed by them as well as Floyd Barnes'
Clarinet Sonata No. 2.

On Oct 11th, Jeanette Winsor presented a workshop entitled "How
to Deal with the ADHD and LD Student in the Private Studio" for
the Charlottesville Music Teachers Association. As the MTNA Southern
Division Competitions Chair, Jeanette was in charge of the 2006
Southern Division Competitions that were held at Lee University
in Cleveland, TN Jan. 26 - 29.
John Winsor's Serenade for Strings and Three Preludes for
piano have just been published by Connors Publication. As of January 1,
2006, he is the Chairman of the Board for NACUSA National. His Three
Essays for orchestra was recently released on Volume 2 of ERM's
Masterpieces for the New Era CD series (Philharmonica Bulgarica;
Robert Ian Winstin, Cond.). John's Caprice for solo clarinet was
released on the first-ever NACUSA CD ("Greetings from NACUSA") with John
playing clarinet. His book, Breaking the Sound Barrier, which
previously received a bronze medal in the ForeWord Magazine
Book of the Year Awards, has since received iUniverse Reader's Choice
and Editor's Choice awards.
