Vice Chair
I have been a volunteer at Mackay Island National Wildlife Refuge since May of 2004. At this time I have a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Studies but future plans include a Masters degree from Christopher Newport University.

From 2004 through 2005 I collected data on the Wood Duck nesting boxes located at Mackay Island. Hopefully, sometime in 2008 I plan on publishing this paper in a peer-reviewed journal so that other biologist can review my findings.

As for future ideas for the Friends, I would like to see a wetland restoration project started in the some of the effected areas of Mackay Island. Also for Currituck N.W.R., I would like to see the Friends re-introduce Seabeach amaranth (an endangered plant) into it’s native habitat, as it has gone extinct on Currituck.

Volunteering: Currently, I am a member of Wildlife Response Inc, and on the Board of Directors of Hunt Club Forest Civic League. Also with the Friends Group, I am serving on the finance committee, retail committee, media committee, and the education committee. Volunteering and giving to my community is a very rewarding experience. I would like to encourage anyone reading my bio to sign up and volunteer with either the Refuge or The Friends of Mackay Island. You can make a difference.

My past experience has been extensive as a Board Member of Youth Challenge, and as a volunteer and contributor to Internatonal Cooperating Ministries which has built over 2000 churches worldwide.
