Conductor Inquiries
Conductors: Please observe the following conventions:
- The Conductor Inquiry Form must be filled out
completely and accurately.
- Unsuitable materials accompanied by self-addressed, stamped envelopes
must be returned promptly after they are reviewed.
- The narrower the focus, the more likely you are to receive works that
you consider appropriate. Specifications should include pertinent
information such as:
- Exact instrumentation, including optional instruments.
- Limits for duration.
- Level of difficulty.
- Stylistic considerations.
- Financial constraints.
- Nature of the program on which the work is to be performed.
- Special considerations (e.g., recording must be included with
submission, only unpublished and unperformed works will be
considered, etc.)
- If, at some point, you have received sufficient materials for review,
you can issue a "cease and desist" order by filling in your name on
the inquiry form and submitting a statement to that effect.
Composers, please observe the following conventions:
- Works must be mainstream art music only.
- Works must be original compositions, not arrangements.
- Scores must be provided for review free of charge.
- Composers wishing to have materials returned must include
self-addressed, stamped envelopes.
- Each submission must meet any additional criteria specified by the
requesting conductor.
- Each score must be accompanied by a cover letter which specifies
the composer's performing rights affiliation, terms for rental
or purchase of parts, and, if applicable, any special conditions
for first performance.
