I think the CCBridge is a wonderful idea. When used properly, it's a great way to get composers in touch with conductors. I'm really surprised that more conductors haven't used it. ... On the whole, the Bridge has been a huge success for me. Thanks for putting it together.
I have received many, many responses to my request. I have peeked at a few - while some are more to my taste than others, all are rather interesting. Enough scores have arrived to program a few concerts, so I am looking forward to the long process of narrowing down. This program certainly suits my needs in finding recent works which are playable and good for my orchestra and audience. ... The composers who have responded are of all styles and cover a wide gamut of experience. Aside from the search for works for a performance, this has been an exciting experience for me just to see the incredible range of work that people are doing today.
First, did anyone tell you that Herb Gellis is doing my MINNESOTA SWALE with the HPSO 6 times in November 2000 because of you? Well he is! Thank you so much. Kudos for setting up the Composer-Conductor Bridge! My one foray into using it recently is likely to net us 1/3 to 1/2 of submissions as real possibles for our (HP Symphony) Orchestra, out of approx. a dozen or more submissions. I'm still parceling things out and waiting on some late submissions, but this has worked out very well. I'm even looking for some homes in other local orchestras for some of the pieces (even some that weren't quite right for the HPSO) so there may be some extra cross-fertilization too! Strong recommendation to give it a try - and be as specific about your needs as you can.
Just a note to thank you for all your work on the Composer Conductor Bridge. I think its a good idea and I'm sure it will bear good fruit over time for all involved. I wanted to thank you for the Composer-Conductor Bridge and I apologize for not doing so sooner. So far, I haven't realized a performance/commission, etc. from my contacts, but I have received what appear to be sincere interest. You have created a new avenue to "make the connection" so important to composers and I appreciate your efforts!
I got an impressive variety of submissions. So many, in fact, that I'm going to have to go through quite a stack and sort them out for the perusal of our new music director and conductor. We did program one work this year as a result of the CCB contact: Sean O'Boyle's "Canon." ... The CCB is a wonderful idea and I hope it is generating good contact between conductors and composers as it was designed to do.

What a terrific idea you're working on. I've always wanted to be able to find a central clearing/reference house for symphonic works that provides information you're accumulating. Best wishes and good luck - I'll check back often.

I just wanted to thank you for the Composer Conductor Bridge. I have, to date, made only one conductor inquiry. Although I have not actually scheduled any works I received as a result of that inquiry I did find several pieces of interest and have them in my 'to program' file. I expect I'll be able to include some of this music during the upcoming season. I like the new 'score search' feature. It is a great addition to the site.
